Are Potential Employers Impressed by an Online Masters Degree?

Want a better job? Often, the only way to advance your career is to go back to school. But "school" doesn't have to mean a cramped classroom with uncomfortable desks anymore. Many professionals and other employees looking to improve their marketability are turning to online colleges - an innovative and exciting way to earn a Masters degree.

The advantages of attaining a Masters Degree are many: higher pay to begin with and ultimately more interesting and satisfying job responsibilities. It also arms you with tremendous opportunity for growth in your career. Today, there are many online Masters Degrees available. These are relevant for those seeking to climb the ladder within the organization or even for those looking for greener pastures outside. These are also good for those who feel they are stagnating in a particular job and hence want to move further. As far as flexibility and convenience go, these online colleges are among the best you can get. Based on your ability, you can even go for the accelerated degree programs offered online, so you get your degree sooner. Part-time graduation courses are also offered by a lot of colleges online.

In comparison to traditional classroom-oriented degree programs, the process of obtaining a degree online holds many advantages. Online degree programs offer flexible hours and non-concrete classrooms. Individuals who don't live near a campus can now pursue their degree with less travel inconvenience. Flexibility is also helpful for those who may have been out of school for a period of time and are just getting back into the routine of academic demands. Any apprehensions may also be alleviated associated with needing to blend into a younger college atmosphere since this is not necessary.

The flexibility of taking online courses is a plus for full-time workers and those with families. Many online courses do not require students to be online at any specific time, but for those that do, students may enroll in course sections that meet at times that do not conflict with their day jobs or family obligations.

There are numerous fine, fully accredited colleges which offer their courses via the internet. These online courses may be given in tandem with standard on-campus programs, or may be all that the institutions offer. The majority of schools do make some internet classes available, however, since they have to compete with other schools that do. Advanced degree programs are available online in business, information technology, nursing, healthcare management, education, liberal arts, etc.

The costs of paying for any college degree can run fairly high. Graduate tuition usually costs much more than an undergraduate degree. However, this investment can really pay off. Many success professionals with high earning abilities have graduate degrees. Graduate students can still qualify for loans, scholarships or grants to offset some of the costs of their education. Therefore, it's important to check with the schools you're applying to and to review the various eligibility restrictions the financial aid has, since some of it may be related to things you can control such as minimum number of class credits you take. Employers also sometimes contribute to their workers' higher education costs, so it's worth checking that too.

Although many people believe that Online Masters Degrees are inferior to Masters Degrees that were obtained through traditional classroom settings, that assumption is not necessarily true. Excellent online programs can offer comparable opportunities for producing group work, utilizing both interpersonal communication and independent study. Additional self-motivation and self-discipline may be needed for students to complete a degree online, but the time management skills that they finely hone in the process can prove advantageous. Their high degree of comfort with cutting-edge Internet technologies can also prove advantageous. Online attainment of your Masters Degree can be both valuable and convenient for broadening your career horizons.

What's In A Name? The Six Essential Elements You Need To Know

Selecting a name for your new business is not easy. A name does more than identify your company. It tells customers who you are, what you do, and more than a little about how you do it. Your name differentiates you from your peers, peaks customer interest, and invites further investigation -- if you do it right.

I didn't do it right. At least, not at first.

All entrepreneurs make mistakes, and I made one of my first ones right off the bat. Thrilled with the fledgling business I was starting, this precious enterprise so near and dear to my heart, I christened my company Diadem Communications. Diadem means crown-- a fitting name for what I felt was a
crowning achievement.

What does Diadem say to you? Does it evoke thoughts of me coming into your company, training your sales team to be the best booth staff ever, ensuring that every single trade show you attend turns out to be amazingly successful? Does it make me sound so good that you just can't wait to hire me?

No. It doesn't say that to me either. And even worse, it didn't say that to any of my potential customers. Going by name alone, no one would be able to determine the least bit of information about me, my company, or the services we offer. The name said nothing, and it did nothing for me.

The name had to go. More importantly, it had to be replaced by something effective. How do you come up with an effective name? Consider these six elements:

An Effective Name:

1. Tells Who You Are: Your name should reflect your identity. This is an essential aspect of branding. You'll be promoting this name, getting it in front of as many eyes as possible as often as possible. How do you want the public to think of you?

For some, that means integrating your personal name into the name of your business. This is very common in some professions: legal, medical, and accounting leap to mind.

Others prefer a more descriptive name. One successful small baker runs her business under the name "The Cookie Lady" because that's how her first customers identified her. It's doubtful that most of the customers even know her first name (It's Pat) but everybody in her market knows "The Cookie Lady".

2. Tells What You Do: It's incredible how many company names give little, if any indication of what type of work the organization actually does. Take the following examples:

  • Smith and Sons
  • Hulbert Brothers
  • Only One
Can you tell me what any of these companies does? Of course you can't. They're relying on customers already knowing who they are (a tricky proposition for new businesses!) or by having their name found in 'context', such as a yellow pages or on-line business directory.

3. Tells How You Do It: Words are very powerful. By carefully selecting what words you use in your name, you can convey a great deal about your company's image. Consider the names of three different massage and bodywork centers:
  • Champlain Valley Therapeutic Massage
  • Clouds Above Massage
  • Speedy Spa
All three companies are providing the same service: massage therapy. Yet the first appears to favor a more medical approach, the second, a dreamy, luxury approach, and the third focuses on fast service.

4. Differentiates You From Your Peers: Your company name is the first opportunity to tell customers how you differ from the competition. This can be done by emphasizing what makes you unique, pinpointing what aspect of your products and services can't be found anywhere else -- or that you do better than anyone else.

Consider the massage therapy example we looked at in number three. Each organization clearly has a different focus and approach to their customer base. They're attracting different types of clients, who are seeking fundamentally different approaches. All of which is conveyed in less than five words.

5. Peaks Customer Interest: Creating customer interest is an art and a science. Think carefully about your target audience. What qualities of your services are of the greatest import to your customers? What kind of words are likely to appeal to them?

Emphasize the important qualities in your name. For example, busy homeowners are drawn to the inherent promise of speed offered by "Bob's Instant Plumbing" while a reader in search of a good mystery will gravitate toward "Crime Pays Books".

Word choice is also important. Two yarn shops can both specialize in specialty fibers, but the one who labels themselves "All Hemp All the Time" will draw in a decidedly different crowd than the one named "Natural Beauty: Organic Yarns".

6. Invites Further Investigation: Customers are funny creatures. What one group finds to be funny and engaging turns another group off. You want your name to be inviting and approachable -- as those qualities are perceived by your target audience.
The best example of this may be seen in the individual investor segment of the financial services industry. Charles Schwab has spent years cultivating a classic, formal image -- but now that the consumer base is changing from 'old people with money' to 'everyone with a 401K', Charles Schwab has launched the "Talk to Chuck" campaign in an effort to be more approachable.

Make sure your name doesn't intimidate customers away! Some industries are more formal than others, but adopt pretension at your peril.

After following a series of simple step-by-step instructions to match my corporate identity with my service offering, I came up with the quintessential name: The Trade Show Coach. This name instantly tells customers what I do - assist companies with trade shows - and a little of the manner in which I do it - coach, rather than dictate, direct, guide, or organize.

See the difference? So did the buying public, some of who quickly became my best customers. The same thing can happen for you -- if you pick the right name.

Time Management Tips: 5 Tips For Making Time Work Better For You

In today's hectic world it is easy to lose track of things if you do not have some kind of time management strategy in place. So, here are some quick tips to help you to get the most out of the precious hours in your day.

1. You cannot manage your time - This may sound a strange way to begin a time management tips article, but it's true. You cannot manage time. You have so many hours in your day and you can not change that. You can, however, manage how effectively YOU can use this time and your energy. Using your time well is about managing you, not about managing time.

2. Be effective, not efficient - Learn to discern between effective use of your time and efficient use of time, the latter being the better of the two. Folding and sealing 200 letters in one hour is efficient use of your time. Buying a machine to do it in five minutes is effective use of your time.

3. Know what you want - How can you spend your time the way you would like to if you don't know what you want? Before embarking on any time management plan sit down and get a clear idea of exactly how you want to spend your time. This will give you something specific to work towards.

4. Get organized - Keep a time log to find out how you are really spending your time. Also, keep a daily time plan for each day so you know exactly what you want to achieve in each day, and work towards your longer-term goals.

5. Avoid time wasters - Time wasters are the arch-enemies of good time management. Worst of all, they are often so subtle that you won't even notice them. Common time wasters include television, clutter, meetings and interruptions at work.

Stress Relief Tip That is Easy and Works Instantly

This stress relief tip is easy, costs nothing and works almost instantly. When you are stressed, your muscles become tense and breathing shallow. Changing the way you breathe will get rid of the stress and tension very quickly. My stress relief tip is do Peace Breathing every time you feel stressed or tense.

I do peace breathing quite often. It is one of the many forms of deep breathing. It can be done anytime and anywhere. You can do it while you are working, cooking, walking or driving. You will feel instantly relaxed and calm. This may be the best stress relief tip you've ever heard!

The process of peace breathing is simple. Here are the steps.

1) Breathe normally but deeply into your belly.

2) As you are inhaling slowly say the word "Peace" to yourself. Imagine you are breathing the word right into your belly.

3) As you exhale you will immediately feel your muscles relax and mind start to calm.

4) Do this for a few minutes or however long it takes to feel more relaxed.

You can use a different word in place of peace if you prefer. Use a word that is soothing to you. It could be "Love", "Rain" or "Tranquil." Instead of breathing into your belly, you may also breathe your word right into the heart.

Try this stress relief tip if you are sitting in traffic or faced with a confrontation. I use it when I am feeling overwhelmed with responsibilities or upset in any way. Peace breathing is so simple and effective it can be used daily. Pass this tip along to your coworkers, friends and family. You will not only be giving them a tool for relieving stress but also a way to improve their health and well-being.

Overcoming Failure

There’s an old Japanese proverb that counsels: “Fall seven times, stand up eight.” But how do you get back up when you’ve fallen flat on your face? Below you’ll find 5 tips to help you gather the pieces and pull yourself back together after you’ve failed.

1. Always expect success. However, you need to get rid of the notion of the “overnight success” or the “get-rich-quick-scheme”. People who appear to be overnight successes have actually spent a lot of time before-hand honing their skill. Success requires a lot of preparation and a prolonged effort. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who feel like failures when something doesn’t work immediately and they just give up. If you don’t succeed right away this doesn’t mean that you’ve failed. Recognize that setbacks are simply part of the process, and that hard work and perseverance are two of the most important ingredients of success. If you’ve failed in the short run it simply means you need to take a longer term view of success.

2. Do not identify yourself with your failures. You are not your actions. To say that you have failed many times is not the same thing as saying that you are a failure. Whatever happens, keep referring to yourself, in your conversations with others and in your self-talk, as someone who has the full capacity to succeed.

3. Create a “fame wall”. Hang your diplomas or certificates on this wall. You can also add framed photographs of yourself with your friends and family having fun or sharing a close moment. Anything that gives you a sense of accomplishment can go up on the wall. In times of failure, refer to your wall. It will serve to remind you that you have succeeded in the past and that you will succeed again in the future

4. Collect stories of failure about people who have gone on to become successful so that you can use them as inspiration when you’re down. For example, consider the following life story.

This person:

At age 22 - Failed in business;

At age 23 – Was defeated for the State Legislature:

At age 24 - Again failed in business;

At age 25 – Was elected to the State Legislature;

At age 26 - His sweetheart died;

At age 27 – He suffered a nervous breakdown;

At age 29 – Was defeated for speaker;

At age 31 – Was defeated for elector;

At age 34 – Was defeated for Congress;

At age 37 – Was elected to Congress;

At age 39 – Was defeated for Congress;

At age 46 – Was defeated for the Senate;

At age 47 – Was defeated for Vice-President;

At age 49 – Was defeated for the Senate;

At age 51 – Was elected President of the United States.

This person was Abraham Lincoln.

5. Keep things in perspective; do not over-generalize. The fact that you’ve failed at something does not mean that your life is over. It does not mean that your reputation is forever ruined and that you’ll never get another chance. Don’t make the situation bigger or more pervasive than it really is. Instead, remember the famous line:

“And this too shall pass . . .”

Motivation...It's All About Attitude

It has been said that there is a fine line between success and failure. When talking about success, I'm not just talking about the so called rich and famous, but about people in all walks of life who have managed to find purpose and meaning in the work that they do. While there is no one recipe that leads to success and work satisfaction, there are qualities that all successful people seem to have an abundance of, and one of those is motivation. When you think about the word 'motivation', what comes to mind? For me, it's anything that creates desire, and motivates someone to take action, whether it be the desire to own your own business, be the best in some sports competition or maybe attracting that special someone. If one were to ask you to name several highly motivated individuals, who would you name? While your list is likely to be much different from mine or anyone else's, one trait that they all share is a passion for what they do that provides all the motivation they require. What do you love to do? I mean what really gives you a charge, something that you have a passion for? One of my pleasures is playing guitar. When I sit down and proceed to make music, I become so enmeshed in the process that I tend to forget about time and my surroundings. When you have a passion for something, it's easy to be motivated. But what about the day to day things that we all must do, such as working at a job that doesn't always provide a lot of inspiration other than paying the bills. Are there things that we can do to help us create a greater sense of work satisfaction while experiencing an increase in motivation? One of the things that successful people do is they are able to look beyond the tasks that they perform, and are motivated to find or create meaning and purpose in the work that they do. When I was younger, I worked my share of tedious jobs such as landscaping, driving, factory work, etc. In the beginning, I found myself becoming bored quickly, and would leave a job as soon as I became tired of it. It wasn't until I discovered ways to make a job more interesting that I actually was able to enjoy them. For instance, I once worked for a medical lab, running routes and picking up specimens from Dialysis units. Going in and out of the units, I would see people with all sorts of health problems, in many cases people who are often at the last stage of their life. After a while, I started having conversations with some of the patients, and I found that I looked forward to seeing my regulars. I came to realize that they looked forward to our brief moments together as much as I did, and knowing that I was bringing just a slight bit of joy into their days gave me a sense of satisfaction and purpose that transcended the job that I performed. What about you? Is there some aspect of your job that you could use to create a greater sense of purpose and thus satisfaction? Are there things that you could do to make yourself more productive? If you get in the habit of looking for ways to improve things around you, you will not only experience greater work satisfaction, but you'll be looked upon as a positive, motivated individual that is an asset to any business or organization. When it comes to motivation, some will say that you either have it or you don't. While it's not always easy to feel motivated about many things in our life, the reality is that there are things that we can do to help create motivation. One of the most important things that we can do is just changing out attitude. Look for greater meaning or purpose in whatever it is that you are doing. As an unknown writer once said, "motivation comes from within". What motivates you?

Positive Thinking

As of late, institutions of higher education and other groups conducted surveys and studies to find out "What is it that brings happiness to people?" The following steps are some of the results.Step #1: Doing good. The universal law says that there's absolutely no joy found in doing wrong. Those who do wrong, or live the untruth, experience anxiety, stress, dispair, resentment, suspicion, lack of confidence, fear and pessimism. Breaking a universal law empowers others to be in command of your life, like a judge, jailer or warden, etc. Doing good is the initial step in becoming a happy person.Step #2: Control. People report that they are happiest if they're in control of their own lives. Self-control and being in command of one's destiny produces immense amounts of freedom and feelings of security. Those who possess a powerful mental self and the ability to control their physical self are happiest.Step #3: Be Optimistic. Optimistic people always expect the best. They have hope for the future and dwell on the positive in life. They make use of the positive side of their subconscious mind by conciously thinking optimistic thoughts. Consider that your mind is like a stage and you always have control over the players on that stage. You can choose to think the positive or negative; it is your choice.Step #4: Belief in a higher power. Researchers discovered that people who have faith in a higher power are happier than people who don't. A good number of individuals who recover from a serious drug or alcohol addiction report the need of a higher power than themselves. Having faith in the unknown can be a satisfying experience.Step #5: Close relationships. The most powerful force in life is love. To give love and receive love is the highest human experience. The amount of happiness in our life depends on the amount of love we have in our life. The power of love can be seen by simply observing those who don't receive enough love- it's terribly damaging to a person to be rejected, lonely and unloved. Step #6: Meaningful activity. The happiest people in life have something to look forward to either in their work, hobbies or other activities they participate in. Those who don't look forward to going to work, don't have a job, or other meaningful activity often experience unhappiness.Step #7: Service. Researchers discovered that one key activity common in happy individuals was helping others. Helping other people provided them with immense happiness and satisfaction. Life is a mirror and people who give, receive. What is it that people receive when they help others? It's an interesting question to ponder.Step #8: Forgiveness. Successful, happy people learn to forgive not only others, but themselves as well. They understand that to err is human-that life is full of trials that help us grow and develop. They recognize that others are human too and they treat others how they would like to be treated. Unsuccessful, unhappy people do the opposite. The very first step that unhappy people must take to find permanent happiness is to become self-aware. Self-awareness via cognitive restructuring is effective therapy for self inflicted problems. The point is that if people aren't happy it is their own fault. Nobody can make them happy except themselves.

Six Sigma Job Opportunities

Most of the reputed companies are laying emphasis on quality and managing costs with the improvement of processes kept as an underlying foundation. “Six sigma” is becoming very prominent because of its application in a business environment. All these factors have created a greater demand for six sigma professionals. Six sigma career opportunities are on the rise within the organization and outside the organization. It is especially beneficial for people who have excelled in their previous jobs, brilliant people are finding fulfilling and new career due to the six sigma methodology adopted by companies. To become a part of the six sigma implementation, the person should have great experience in various managerial positions and at least mastering one of them.

Growth opportunities within the organization:

Career enhancement is possible within the organization by getting a black belt or a green belt in six sigma methodology with an appropriate training in it. Companies which have decided to implement six sigma often hire a professional as a consultant initially although they will not be making any decisions in the strategy planning. Upper management normally would like to give opportunities to its existing employees beginning with a green belt at the execution level, a black belt professional for problem solving level and a master black belt at the uppermost position.

Opportunities outside the organization:

Job search portals will give a better idea of the need of six sigma professionals who are either fresh or experienced professionals with a black belt. Black belt professionals are higher in demand than the green belt professions due to their problem solving capabilities with solid experience.

Requisites and aptitude to become a six sigma professional:

Both the green belt and black belt candidates should have an open mind and strong analytical capabilities. They should be in a position to question everything with a view to make core contribution to the organization. Above all, high level of motivation and self confidence is very important and necessary. Black belt professionals have to focus on analytical and problem solving aspect while dedicating all their time in the process of implementing it. Green belts have to focus on routine responsibilities and may not be able to dedicate all the time. They are expected to be studious, flexible enough, understand statistical tools and have good interpersonal skills.

Six sigma training:

Six sigma training methodology is not standardized and are not universal. Hence organizations should research and recognize the right institute for training professionals. Many corporations have their own training facilities and are provided to people who will be working for them for quite sometime.

How to Invest 25% of Your Income Without Losing Your Quality Of Life

John McCormack, in his excellent book "Self-Made in America" suggests that if you are investing less than 25% of your income then you aren't serious about becoming wealthy. But how do you afford to do this without suffering? The answer is here.

You can do this by eliminating waste and impulse spending from your spending habits. Studies have shown that the average American blows around 25% of their income in these two totally unnecessary areas; waste spend and impulse spending. Let's see what these two types of unnecessary spending are and how to eliminate them.

First I will define waste spending. There are two main types of waste. Firstly waste is when you spend more money than you need to in order to get the result that you want. Secondly waste is when you buy more than you need in order to get the result that you want.

Here are two examples around food.

An example of Type 1 Waste would be buying a sandwich for lunch for $5 when you could have made the same sandwich at home, and brought it with you, for only 50 cents. You are paying ten times the true value of that sandwich by buying it ready made. You probably also spent more time standing in line to be served than the time you would have required to make the sandwich at home.

An example of Type 2 Waste is when you buy more food than you need and then have to throw it away. Because you couldn't be bothered taking the time to calculate the amount that you really needed you overspent on your food bill.

The facts are that more Americans are regularly guilty of both type 1 and type 2 waste on a regular basis, and not just with food. Americans tend to buy without asking for discounts and they over buy in all areas of their life. I have singled out Americans here but these poor spending habits are not just the province of Americans they are true for all affluent societies.

Now let's define impulse spending. Impulse spending is when you buy something that you had no intention of buying until you saw it by chance. It is no coincidence that supermarkets put chocolate bars and magazines next to the checkouts. They are there because the supermarket is well aware of the profit potential for them from impulse spending.

Impulse spending does not enhance your lifestyle. You are simply buying something just because you saw it and quite often you don't even really want nor need these items. I was amazed to discover that most books purchased are never read. In fact the statistics are that 80% of books purchased are never even started and half of those that are started are never finished, People buy books on impulse, usually because they are attracted to the title and the cover design.

The main areas of impulse spending are sweets and magazines and anything that is "on sale". People also tend to impulse spend in their areas of interest or hobbies. Young women will impulse spend on clothes, shoes and makeup. Musicians will impulse spend in the music shop, and so on.

If you can eliminate waste spending and impulse spending then, if you are like the typical American, you will free up around 25% of your income that you can put to investing. But how do you cure yourself of these costly habits? You can do this easily by developing two new habits.

New Habit Number 1:

The self-made rich decide in advance where and how they are going to spend their money. The average person spends their money randomly as the urge seizes them. Deciding where you money is going to go, while you are still at home, eliminates impulse spending. Making a conscious decision as to the value you will receive for each dollar spent will help eliminate waste spending.

Develop the habit of deciding, on pay day, where your money is going to go, write this down and then read over it and ask yourself if any of that planned expenditure is in the waste spending category.

When you are going shopping take a list and stick to the list. This will help remove the impulse spending habit. Developing the habit of deciding in advance where your money will go is a great way to ensure that you still maintain your quality of life in the present, but you free up money for investing so that you can become rich and enjoy a much greater quality of life in the future,

New Habit Number 2:

The self made rich have the habit of writing down every cent that they spend, as they spend it, so that they are fully aware of where their money is going. The average person is surprised when their money runs out because they were not fully aware of how much they where spending. As a result, bad money managers find that they have too much month at the end of the money whereas good money managers find that they have too much money at the end of the month.

Develop the habit of recording your expenditure as you spend it. Become fully aware of where your money is going and always ask yourself if this particular transaction is going to truly enhance your life or not. If the answer is no then don't go through with that transaction.

Developing these two simple habits will free up a surprising amount of money for you to put to investing. So how should you invest that money in order to maximize your profits? Unfortunately this article is long enough already so that secret will have to be revealed on another day.

How to use telemarketing effectively

Follow these simple rules, and you can make inbound or outbound telemarketing work more effectively for your business:

1. Think creatively about what your telemarketing can achieve. For example telemarketing can be used to generate leads, screen leads before follow up, arrange appointments for field sales staff, provide support, motivate resellers, research markets, test new offers, and of course gain sales.

2. Make sure the person making the call is properly briefed, knows all about your business and knows exactly what you are aiming to achieve. This is equally important whether your telemarketing is being handled by your receptionist, as by a professional call centre or telemarketing agency.

3. Try and match your telemarketing staff to the people they will be calling. For example many colleges and universities often employ and train current or recent students to call alumni to ask for their help in fundraising, because they are more likely to have something in common. If necessary, train your telemarketing staff to identify the type of person they are speaking to and adjust their tone and manner accordingly. Bouncy, jokey and over-familiar telesales staff are unlikely to make much headway with chartered accountants or financial directors.

4. Make sure the right technology is in place so that your telemarketing campaign can be adjusted quickly if it needs to be, and that results of calls can be logged effectively. All users need proper training in your technology system, and you need to have a back up in place in case the technology fails mid sales call.

5. If you are operating inbound telemarketing through a call centre, make sure that staff are trained and motivated to make the most of every opportunity, such as turning complaints into happy customers. An existing customer saved can often be far more valuable than a new customer gained.

6. Don't waste time and resources in calling prospects who are not likely to buy from you - this just smacks of desperation. You may think that if you call enough of them someone will buy, but this can do more damage than good amongst the larger numbers who really don't want to receive your call. Try and target to your telemarketing to people who may already know of your brand, and who are likely to have some interest in what you are selling.

7. Following on from the last point, train your staff to ask a few initial questions to identify if the prospect is actually a potential customer or not. Qualifying leads early on can save a lot of wasted time and frustration trying to convert someone who is simply never going to buy.

8. Make sure your administration and fulfilment operations are also of the same standard as your telemarketing - there's not point in a well trained caller convincing a prospect to have a sales rep call, if the appointment never reaches the rep's diary, or they forget to make the visit.

9. Test your outbound telemarketing results. After all telemarketing is a direct marketing activity with all the benefits that brings for testing, adapting and measuring results. If a script or approach is not working, don't be afraid to change the approach and try again.

Manage your Debt

As for others, managing their debts is one of the hardest tasks that they can do. Some think that it is likely impossible to manage their own debts. But hold on and relax, because this article will help you to manage your own debt. Something that seems impossible before will now be possible.

Everything is a matter of self control, being organize and knowing how to use your budget wisely. Putting these things into practice can make your debit free. It is significant to keep track of your debts and contact all your creditors so that they would be aware that you want to settle your account as soon as possible. Doing so, your creditors can decrease your interest rates. In addition to that, if you are not that confident that you can do the monthly payment, let them know so they can design an agreement that will suit your needs. One of the best options for you is Debt Consolidation. This could help you manage your debts and eliminate it in a short period of time. If you own a home, you can consider applying for a home equity loan or putting a second mortgage to your house. You might think that this is extreme but if you have numerous high interest credit cards, bills, or loans, in realism, you are paying additional for these materials than they were valued when you bought them. This is the negative side of equity loans though.

Most loans requires your real estate as collateral and if you fail to make a payment you’ll be in risk of losing your home. Another way to arrange your debts is to make large monthly payments on your credit cards. This is because if you pay less, larger amount of interest will be place. Paying larger will be eventually lower your interest smaller until you are done with paying the bills.

If you add just a few extra dollars to your payment each month, it will increasingly condense the number of payments of all of the loans and credit cards you have increase. While you lesser the amount of payments that are made, this also decreases the balance a person will eventually end up paying in charges, interests, and fees. You may also consider Credit counseling. This is the process that will give you a service to assist you in determining a reliable form of action to help you mange and eliminate your debts. These organizations offer an ample variety of programs such as, guidance on debt management, and have workshops that are stanch to things like, managing money and budgeting. But more than anything else, the most powerful tool or solution to manage your debts is budgeting. As for this, you must know what you can only pay. So, get a debt that you can pay. Make a listing of the things that you need and prioritize the most important ones. Have a careful research and thinking before getting a debt. Know your budget well and you’ll be able to have manageable debts.

8 Rules of Building Wealth

  1. Forget Performance; look at fees

Remember that its not what you make, its what you keep. When evaluating an investment evaluate the cost to generate an investment return. If you are using an investment manager compare the performance of the investment net of fees. Be careful when entering into non-tradition investment vehicles life limited partnership interest. These type of investments tend to have higher management fees and are often illiquid.

  2. Invest when a stock's earnings estimate are being revised upward.

Investing when a stock is strong is often a sign of good management and strong underlying value. Be focused on stocks that are reaching new highs because the management is committed to increasing the stock value. Look for stocks that announce buyback programs. This is often a sign that management feels the stock is undervalued. If the insiders feel that way, its often a great sign that you should be buying the stock too.

  3. Monitor cash flow to find the winners

Increased cash flow into a company is a great sign that the company is fundamentally strong. With increased cash flow that company has the ability to pay increased dividends and expand without taking on a lot of debt.

  4. Put the right investments in the right places

Dont just buy an investment because everyone else is. The best investment policy is found in a balanced portfolio and outlines investment objectives. For example, if you are young and starting out your career, you should be heavily weighted into stocks and making investments with greater potential returns. A person in the retirement, should adopt an investment policy that focuses on predictable cash flow and protection of principal.

  5. Forget 1 year outlooks; plan at least 5 or 10 years ahead

Even the best professional investment advisors cannot predict what is going to be the best performer for the next year. The best investment policy is reached by taking a long term perspective in mind. When you invest, invest for the long term. Be patience and allow your portfolio to experience volatility. If you are worrying about your investments, then you have too much invested. Only invest what you are afford to lose.

  6. Don't be afraid to hold cash

You should set aside some cash outside of the electronic banking system. If you were to experience a disaster your credit cards may no longer work, but your cash will. Hold enough cash to manage your affairs for at least 4 days (or 72 hours).

  7. Follow the outstanding shares

When evaluating a company be sure to check who is currently holding the stock. How much institutional shares are invested. Institutional share give more stability to the stock unless bad news is announced. If the stock is quickly dumped by the institution, this will probably result in a large drop on the market. Look for companies that have less than 50% of the outstanding stock in institutions. This may bring a greater up side if you are holding stock and the institutions are looking to acquire large blocks. Also, companies with stock buyback programs are a good sign the companies stock is undervalued.

  8. Don't rely on your instincts; they're probably wrong

Most people learn this lesson the hard way. If everyone is dumping a stock, that doesnt mean that you should also be buying. Do no try to time the market in a stock. Remember the saying: Lows hit new lows and highs hit new highs. The best investment policy is one that adopts a slow steady pace.

Inventory Management

Inventory management may seem complicated to some, but if one truly thinks about what the words “inventory management” mean, it is a simple concept. Inventory is basically a list of goods and materials that are held by a business and are available in stock. Inventory management is the process of keeping track of inventory, and having the delicate balance of supply and demand firmly mastered. When having inventory, a company does not ever want to have too much of a product, nor does it want to have not enough of that product to meet demand. Inventory management helps to ensure that a proper inventory is maintained at all times.

Benefits of Inventory Management

Inventory management has many benefits for companies. Companies are required to have a certain amount of inventory, but they do not want to have too much. Inventory costs money, so a company with too much inventory is wasting money and hurting itself. Inventory management can help make it so that a company has the exact inventory needed. No more, no less. Inventory management is also an effective way to keep track of exactly what products a company has. If a company sells 100 different products, it is important to know how much of each product they have. This knowledge can be obtained through inventory management. Inventory management appears as an asset on the balance sheet for a company, but it also ties up money. That being said, managing one’s inventory is essential. Well-organized inventory management can help save a business unnecessary costs, while delivering products and services to customers more quickly and efficiently. This will eventually lead to increased customer satisfaction, giving a business a greater chance to retain customers and gain new customers. Successful implementation of inventory will improve the entire business significantly

Who manages the inventory? Naturally, businesses have jobs specifically designed for monitoring inventory. Today, as business technology becomes increasingly important and prevalent, inventory managers use software. Inventory management software may consists of a variety of programs. Most generally, inventory management software has databases in which information can be entered easily. Inventory management software also provides a central hub to find out information on all of the inventory a company has. This is quite useful for any inventory manager, or a company deciding how much additional inventory to purchase.

Suggestions for Successful Inventory Management

Inventory management is a wonderful idea, but it has to be carried out correctly. Some suggestions for successful implementation of inventory management are to have the best software available for one’s company. This does not necessarily mean the most expensive, or technologically advanced. Rather, having the best software to suit the needs of the particular company. It is also important to have highly trained personnel working on inventory management. Employees must be able to adjust to changes in demand and supply as quickly as possible. There are many inventory management seminars available. Sending inventory managers to these seminars is always a good idea. The better the employees understand and successfully implement inventory management, the better off the business will be.

Conclusion

Inventory management is important for keeping costs down, while meeting regulations. Supply and demand is a delicate balance, and inventory management hopes to ensure that the balance is undisturbed. Highly trained inventory managers and high-quality software will help make inventory management a success. The ROI of inventory management will be seen in the forms of increased revenue and profits, positive employee atmosphere, and an overall increase of customer satisfaction.

Business Process Management

Business Processes are a group of activities which are recurring in nature and contribute significantly to the growth and development of the business. Managing these activities efficiently so that maximum business benefit can be captured is better known as Business Process Management. If you think that Business Process Management deals with mundane tasks, you are very far from the truth. Large organizations with good business process management skills have even managed to put an abstract activity such as Innovation as part of their process management cycle. Even thinking or strategizing for the future is part of a Business Process. Thus the first step in understanding Business Process Management is to understand the range of activities which qualify as Business Process and only then can they be documented and subsequently managed.

The first step when implementing Business Processes in any organization is to understand the lifecycle of a business process. Key questions which need to be answered are ‘when does the process get triggered?', ‘which business activity does it impact?', ‘what are the steps in business process?', ‘What the key parameters against which they can be measured?' and so on.

Once these key questions are answered and documented, you can put see the outline of a defined business process. All business activities are made up of multiple business processes and business process management is to make sure that these processes are working together for the greater benefit of the organizations. Some of the key points to consider when setting up business processes are discussed in the rest of this article.

Keep in mind that these processes will be managed by people. A business process should not be very rigid; neither should it be too open ended. There should be some room for innovation within the process as well as that is the business process can be improved over a period of time. Many management gurus consider successful organizations those which have captured the DNA of a business process within their working framework.

Simple documentation and automation also makes business process automation work in the long run. If you are using software to automate your business process, it should be made sure that people have been suitably trained on it and rather than change the way of working of the company, the software conforms to the process that you already follow. The automation should be complimentary to business and not anti-productive. It is imperative to remember that Business Process Management is suppose to save time and resources in an organization and should be approached with that principle in mind.

Adherence to Business Process throughout the organization is a must for any organization to gets it full impact. Developing or outlining a business process without true permeation with the company, is like giving a bird wings but asking it not to fly. It is successful implementation and following of a set business process which will save time and money in the organization and bring about greater efficiencies. Following business processes also helps in getting the most out of the people employed in the company without going back to the drawing board each time a familiar situation comes up.

The term Management in Business Process Management makes this activity an ongoing one. One a business process has been set and put in automated or semi-automated motion, it is critical that the process is reviewed at regular intervals to evaluate the affectivity of the process. A facility to maintain feedback from users of the process much be implemented and periodical review of the process and feedback from users will help in implementing changes and improving the process on an ongoing basis. A mature organization is one which has managed to implement the Business Process of Managing Business Processes effectively.

The Business Process Management process has been an established business activity for quite some time. If you are keen to ensure that you harness the complete benefits of Business Process Management in your organization, you can bench mark it against some of the leading standards such as ISO 9001:2000, SEI CMM and Six Sigma. Some industries have industry specific business process management certifications. Benchmarking allows you to go full throttle in business process management as well as provide you excellent ammunition to increase the value of your organization in front of customers, suppliers and employees.

25 Tips for Successful Money Management

Are you ready to get on track to Health, Wealth and Well-being and access your abundance? The first step is to understand that there are three basic ways to make money: you can trade your time for money (it's called a job), invest your money, or leverage yourself (build a business). If prosperity is what you are after, here are 25 tips to get you started.

1. Understand What Money Is - There is no magic to money. Money is just another form of energy. There is an abundance of money and it can be created out of your speaking.

2. Know What You Want - Be clear about what you want. Money is just a means to getting what you want. The clearer you are about what you want, the greater the likelihood of it showing up in your life. Be sure that what you want also serves to provide value to others.

3. Speak Your Success - Continue to speak what you want in positive terms. Use affirmations to help manifest the things you want in your life.

4. Stop Procrastinating - Procrastination is the number one reason people fail and time is your greatest ally or your worst foe. Get into action toward creating what it is you want by taking one step each day.

5. Have A Plan - Know what steps are needed to reach your goals and what you need to do each day to have it happen.

6. Get Help - You don't need to go it alone. Get help from a professional. When looking for advice be sure to look for someone with professional designations such as a Certified Financial Planner, CPA, Attorney etc.

7. Save a Little From Everything You Earn - If you start early and you save a little from everything you earn, you will take advantage of the power of both time and compounding to reach your goals. It takes less money to reach your goal if you have time on your side.

8. Build a Cash Reserve - You should have 3 months of living expenses in a cash reserve position. This will help you avoid keeping credit card debt that will drain your resources and slow you in reaching your goals. Your cash reserve is the place you go to meet emergencies.

9. Take the Free Money - If you have access to a company matching plan such as a 401(k) plan, be sure to save at least up to the point where you get all of the matching money. If someone is willing give you 3- 6% of your salary just for saving money, take it.

10. Understand How Money Works - There are many ways to have your money work for you. You should talk with professionals, read, and research all the ways you can have your money work for you. Look for ways to create tax-free income whenever possible.

11. Don't Get Greedy - Be willing to take small profits many times rather than trying to make the one big kill that will make you rich. It is true that those who get greedy rarely succeed.

12. Use Professionals - Investing successfully is a complicated game. There is no way you can get all the information you need to be successful and getting this information takes time away from the other things that are important in your life, so letting professionals manage your money may make sense. If they have the resources and the expertise it could pay to let them advise you on your decisions. It is your money, however, so you should monitor their level of success and don't be afraid to move your money if the investments don't perform to your satisfaction.

13. Dollar Cost Average - We know that we can buy things at different prices at different times. As the economy grows and contracts the prices of things go up and down. By investing the same amount of money at regular intervals, your average cost can be less than if you invested all of your money at one time.

14. Diversify - Don't invest in too much of any one thing. If you are investing in stocks, own more than just a few. Even better, invest in different types of things: stocks, bonds, real estate, gold, collectables, etc.

15. Invest In Yourself - You can always learn more. Take the time to invest in books, tapes, and classes that will give you new information and new ideas about what to do and how to do it. Never stop learning and never stop asking questions.

16. Build Multiple Streams of Income - Don't rely on just one source of income. Look for ways to build income streams by investing in things that produce ongoing income, starting a business, writing a book, or leveraging your knowledge on the Internet.

17. Pay Off Credit Cards - By keeping balances on your credit cards you are robbing part of your saving ability. Pay off balances every month so your money can be working for you in a positive way. Remember, a dollar lost doesn't just cost you that dollar, it also costs you what that dollar could earn if you still had it. We call this opportunity cost

18. Know the Risks - Before you invest in anything, know what the risks are. If the promised rewards are high, realize that the risks will be high as well. Only risk the money you are willing to lose and remember Tip #11, don't get greedy.

19. Teach Your Kids - Good money management starts at a young age. Let your children know what you are doing and teach them how to manage their own money. Help them to see that saving a little out of everything they make can add up to future wealth.

20. Love What You Do and Do What You Love - You will be more successful and happy in life if you are doing what you love. It may not seem possible right now if you are in a job you don't like, but you can start by looking for ways to turn your hobby or your dreams into sources of income. Eventually they may become your main source of income and satisfaction.

21. Buy Low and Sell High - Look for bargains in the things you invest in and don't be afraid to sell something that has lost value. Hanging onto an investment that has lost value because you hope it will come back up may keep you from investing in something else that may gain value much more quickly.

22. Don't Be Afraid To Share - As you give of your time and money you will find that your prosperity will be increased. Don't be afraid to give money away to causes and organizations you believe in. As you share what you have, the universe will continue to provide more of what you want.

23. Protect What You Have - As you build your net worth make sure that you put the proper insurance in place to protect what you have worked hard for, and don't forget to protect the largest asset you will ever have - your ability to make a living. Life and disability insurance are ways to leave the legacy you would have left, if you had had the time to earn it.

24. Use the Tax Laws - Take advantage of the tax laws. One of the best ways to utilize the tax laws is to start your own business from home. Be sure to consult a qualified tax expert to be sure you are getting everything to which you are entitled.

25. Plan for When You Are Gone - Managing your money doesn't have to end when you die and you shouldn't let it. By doing proper estate planning you can be assured that your family will be properly cared for and that the plans you put in place will live on.

Be the Center of Attention - Anytime, Anywhere

When you are a socially-skilled person, you will achieve a higher level of greatness only because other people will promote you by telling others what a great person you are to be around or to do business with. Yes, these skills will help you make lots of money.

My friend "Red" was the consummate people-person. He made a small fortune selling used cars - part time! People made an appointment with him just to buy from him and only him! They spread the word to their friends that Red was the go-to guy for a used car.

When you master the following social skills, you will have the trust and all-out support of others just like Red. These will be people you have helped who are eager to help you. All you have to do is ask and they will bend over backwards to get you what you need. This gives you a small army of people who will help you achieve anything your heart desires.

Once you learn the following social skills and apply them, you reach a level self-empowerment never imagined by you. In effect, self-empowerment is making a general overhaul of your life and turning yourself into a happier and more successful person. You just have to know and apply the following 10 skills.

1. Be genuine.

Make sure you go at this with good motives. People can read a phony and you will be stopped before you can even get started because people will tell others to keep away from you.

Be genuinely interested in everyone you meet. Once they perceive that you have selfish intentions, you might as well say goodbye to self-empowerment.

2. Be the greatest listener that you can be.

To earn the love and trust of people, listen to their problems and sympathize with them. Do not just hear them out, listen to them with your heart. Make eye contact and listen intently because every word they speak matters. And, ask questions to draw them out. Resist giving them unsolicited advice. Just listen, ask questions, and listen some more. Soon they will see that you are a person they can confide in.

3. Laugh out loud.

Don't force yourself to laugh at every joke or comment if you do not find it funny. A polite smile is fine in that case but, if it's funny to you, laugh out loud. Find humor in things and don’t be deadly serious about everything. When you display an awesome sense of humor, you will attract others and eventually, build successful relationships.

4. Don't forget yourself.

In the process of fluttering around like a social butterfly, guard against allowing others to walk all over you. If you love and value yourself before anyone else, if you see yourself worthy of affection and respect, people will flock to you and not simply use you. What do I mean by this? It's a fact that some people will see your personality as weak and will not take you seriously. Ignore them and move to others who appreciate you.

5. Be a "good-deed-doer.”

You don't have to give until you are broke. In fact, money is the worst thing you can give. Instead, do little acts of kindness. These matter most and can be as simple as sending someone a surprise "Thinking of you" card or helping someone acquire something they need through one of your friends or contacts. I often use my network of acquaintances to make things happen for others with a simple phone call.

6. Contact your old friends.

Many friendships are destined to end for various reasons beyond our control. But, thanks to technology, you can do something about it. Relive the good old days by flipping through your yearbook and look for the great people whom you want to communicate with again. Adding these old friends to your roster of support peers will surely make you, and them, feel good all over.

If you locate them, don't make direct contact at first. Instead, break the ice by sending a card with your phone number enclosed. Invite them to contact you. Let things take a natural course. They may have reasons for not renewing the friendship.

7. Kill your negative personality.

Are you grouchy, grumpy and generally a doom-and-gloom person? If you are, I'll bet you can count your friends and acquaintances on one hand! Get rid of those traits and habits that have been hampering your growth. No one wants to be around a grouch.

8. Be confident.

This takes courage at first but learn to move around a room of people and purposely introduce yourself to people with that winning smile of yours. Just remember: be confident, not arrogant. Apply #1 and #2 above as you meet and greet new people.

9. Practice control.

When angry, don't snap at anyone. Never throw a tantrum. Stay calm and collected. Be adult enough to take control of the situation. Transform your anger into something more productive. If your anger rises to gigantic proportions easily, people will find it hard to confide in you. In fact, people will avoid you.

10. Keep nurturing your relationships.

Whatever happens in life, your relationships with your family, friends and significant others are so precious that you must not neglect them. Keep them active by going out and having fun with them. Do things together. Happiness will never elude you when the people who matter most to you are close to you.

In the end, self-empowerment means becoming a better and more lovable person. It's a win-win situation - people know they can turn to you for help and comfort and they will be eager to return the favor.

Leadership matters in managing change effectively

Organizations need to change their functioning and way in which they conduct their business and services. The reason behind these changes might be external forces in economy, needs of customer or marketplace. These changes would affect whole organization and it can be known from level of opposition of leadership and employees.

For any organization, if change takes place then it’s essential for all employees to understand three preliminary steps in the process. These three steps are as under:

1. What is needed to change?
2. What needs to happen to make it a reality?
3. How can we make it happen?

The fact is, not every employee of the organization follows these principles in same way. But, understanding these concepts has really helped many organizations to successfully bring an effective change.
Why individual opposes change?

• People are insecure about loss of control by change
• Lots of insecurities are being created due to change affecting the status quo
• People are used to working in a particular laid down manner since long
• Change requires hard work
• There had been bad experience in past due to change.
• Changes are forced upon people without any valid explanations.

Reduce the conflict and build loyalty to change
Reduce the resistance by providing obvious picture of change. Change should be step by step, planned and estimated. Engage people in this process and do inform them regularly. All you need to do is to reduce disruption through efficient planning. Leadership at every level should express people’s dedication to the change. Appreciate them for their involvement in change process and also give award to earlier pioneers.

Key to effective change
As a leader, one important thing is to study present culture of the organization and to know where you are. It is also necessary for a leader to identify employees who want change and those who are not happy with change. Take example from existing model that has effectively implemented change and also communicate with them regarding their experience with change. Don’t completely change existing culture immediately, but take advice from people about ways to implement the change and methods to solve the problems while implementation. Vision may help you in change, but this is not the only way.

Steps leading to successful change
Find out, what is taking place in areas, where changes have taken place by involving persons who will be in charge of results. Analyze the conditions with the representatives. Make strategic planning that leads towards success after change in organization. Continue activities with involvement of employees that will help in solving problems and also in improvement of change process. Finally measure, examine and estimate the change.

Involvement of Critical Factors
Collaboration and good communication is essential and plays important role in process. All processes, practices and functionalities give more values to customer, goals and performance for achievement of goals. There should be internal solutions. Horizontal, Vertical and multi directional interaction must be carried out before change in organization.

Stop Wasting Time – Learn to Make Decisions Faster

Every success starts with a decision. The biggest waste of time, the biggest waste of life, for most people is the decision they need to make but haven’t made because they can’t make up their mind.

There is power in a made-up mind. Every one of us is a decision maker. We have 50,000 to 100,000 thoughts a day.

Consider executives. During the year these men and women have to make hundreds, thousands, maybe tens of thousands of decisions. If they give equal value to every decision, no decision is that important.

They may give equal time to a $1 million decision, a $100 decision, or a $10 decision as to a $100 million decision or a $1 billion decision.

Let’s have fewer decisions that have to be made. Let’s resolve to make fewer decisions.

There are going to be more-important decisions, and there are going to be monumental decisions. There are going to be such big decisions that, as you look back on them, you will say the decision was worth making; you’ll say that was the decision that leveraged the results of the company.

Very few people understand the importance of making fewer decisions. You really need to start at the beginning of the year, and figure out what is the one decision, or what are the two or even three decisions, you can make that will take your company, your life, or your business, or whatever it may be, to a completely new level.

For example, last year I moved from Japan, where I had lived for 22 years, to Singapore. When I moved, one of the things I needed to do was to make up my mind about where I wanted to live. That decision was going to affect every waking moment, every sleeping moment of my entire life in Singapore, because that is where I was going to be spending all my time. So I put an incredible amount of time into making the decision about where I wanted to live. I looked at 47 houses before I found one that was going to be exactly the right environment for me. That was a decision that was worth spending a lot of time on.

Then it came time for me to get a local cell phone because I was now living in a new country. I spent exactly zero hours, zero minutes, and zero seconds on selecting a new cell phone.

How did I do that? I told my assistant, “Get me a cell phone.” She asked, “What type?” I said, “I really don’t care; you figure it out.”

What you want is to hire the best. One of the decisions you make is to get employees who are better than you at some things.

Tips on Anger Management that should help us all

Anger is a change in conduct to express that one should stop his/her behavior immediately and if he/she doesn’t, there may be a violent response. To show anger, animals make loud sounds, bare their teeth and stare. Humans also behave in similar manner when there are perceptional pains and decision to oppose is done. Physical altercation without the prior expression of anger by least one of the participants is very rare. Because we have language, humans usually have written and verbal sources i.e. written threats and verbal insults. Hence we may not perceive immediately physical threat, but can feel pain psychologically.

Anger can arise without a direct physical threat and without the actual person is present. We have capacity to imagine the remote future; hence the threat of pain can come from our imagination. It may not be based on anything happening in the immediate present. Humans have some behavioral norms related to social survival. If anybody does not follow these norms, other human’s anger arises e.g. not getting respect. This may break social or interpersonal safety rules. One may see that others are treated unfairly and have anger though he /she is not the sufferer. Hence, human beings experience anger empathetically.

Sometimes anger may result in physical action or shouting loudly. Everyone gets angry. Many people will react very quickly to the perceived pain. It may happen that some lose their coolness and hit the roof. The difficult part is learning what to do with these strong feelings. Sometimes it is important to get angry. Children will understand their mistakes if teacher is angry with them. But anger must be released in proper way. It is one and the same thing like; steam gathering under the lid will blow the lid. If such things are happened it is not good for anyone.

Solution will not come by taking anger out on others. Instead of that if you admit to yourself that you are angry and try to figure our why. You can talk with someone like a parent, relative or teacher. When you talk about your anger, those bad thoughts normally get vanished.

It is impossible that you will never get angry. But if you remember that how you act when you are angry will worsen or improve the situation, then you will not lose your control.

The Worst Presentation Sins And How To Avoid Them

Hundreds of thousands of meetings are held every day be it in business, private and social environments. During our lifetime we will attend many and on some occasions we will be the person who speaks in front of the audience. In such occasion our success depends on our ability to present ourselves clearly and in the interest of the listener. Following are some of the worst presentation sins and ways to avoid them.

1) Never, ever read your speech! Unless you are very practised in this your voice will be monotonous and put people asleep. Practise until you know your beginning sentence, the ending and the main point of your speech by heart and then deliver from the heart with conviction and sincerity. A few deep breath if you are nervous won't hurt.

2) Droning on when the topic is exhausted - If you are not clear what the purpose of your message is you might try desperately to get points across that you are not even clear on yourself. To avoid that make sure you can state your message in one short clear sentence before you prepare your speech or presentation and work towards keeping that message clear.

3) Hammering your points in - Sometimes we want to get a point across and instead of using different examples we just hammer the point across, again and again until we believe the audience must have gotten the message. Using real life examples to illustrate our point will be much more efficient and more fun too.

4) Looking either at the lectern or ceiling instead of your audience. Nerves can make our eyes glue to the lectern or up on the ceiling as if looking for divine inspiration. The result is that your audience feels left out, unimportant to you and within a short time span will lose interest. Make sure you keep eye contact with the room looking slowly from side to side actually stopping to look into the eyes of some people in the audience.

5) Confusing your audience - Give them key points that they can digest easily and eliminate conflicting messages and jargon. Use vocabulary everyone can understand and repeat your main message during your presentation several times.

6) Boring your audience - Package the information with vocal variety and pitch, active body language and style to make it interesting. Be honest and lively and always well prepared!

7) Lacking passion - Believe in your message and let them know how much you believe in it. Passion is captivating, contagious and more convincing than logic. Whether your presentation is "perfect" or not if you are passionate about it the message will come across.

8) Insulting your audience - Talk to them and with them - but not down to them. Don't make jokes about the audience. Don't assume that you know more than they do or that you know what they think.

9) Information overload - K.I.S.S. - Keep It Short and Simple. Give them what they need to know to be able to do what you want them to do. Don't overload them with too many details.

10) Too many slides - Many presenters seem to confuse quantity with quality. Visual aids are there to reinforce your message but neither your PowerPoint slides nor other visual aids will rescue you from a poor presentation. Your enthusiasm will always be your best messenger.

11) Being inflexible and unapproachable - make your audience part of your speech. Ask them questions they can answer by raising their arm or ask rhetoric questions that you give an answer to yourself but which will get your audience thinking too.

A speech or a presentation is not about you. It is about the message and the better you can get your message across the more successful your presentation or speech will be.

Jim Rohn said: "Always be your best. You never know who is in the audience." No matter if you have an audience of one or one thousand if you are well prepared and speak from the heart your audience will respect you for your effort and love you for sharing the emotion.

6 Tips To Manage Anger Problems Fast!

Do you find yourself increasingly frustrated with others? Is your anger causing problems in your relationships or at work? Here are 6 simple things you can do to manage anger problems fast.

1. Leave the situation for a few minutes to calm down.

Make an excuse, any excuse and just get out of the room where you are feeling angry. While you are gone try and calm down by reminding yourself that getting angry and making a scene is not going to help you in the long run. If you are really angry and feel like you are going to lose control tell the boss you feel sick and need to go home for the day. Time out from the problem, even for a few minutes can help you to stay calm and in control.

2. Change the subject.

If possible change the topic of the conversation to something else. It is fine to say "Look I am not ready to discuss that right now. I will think about it and we can talk again tomorrow" Then move on to another topic of conversation. You can do this by asking someone else a question. This way they will start talking and it will give you a break. It may be as simple as saying "What did you think of the game the other night?" Then let them talk while you clam down.

3. Do some abdominal breathing exercises.

This is a great way to reduce angry feelings. For this to be successful you need to learn and practice the breathing exercises when you are NOT angry. Then practice them each morning. If you do this and find yourself in an angry situation the exercises will be effective. But abdominal breathing will not help it you only try and learn it when you are angry or stressed. Don't take big deep breaths that can cause anxiety. Learn slow abdominal breathing, similar to that used in yoga or some meditation techniques.

4. Write down what you are angry about.

Then put it aside to look at later. Just make a quick list of the problems that are causing you to feel angry. Do not go into a lot of detail, just jot down the problems in point form. When you are finished make an agreement with yourself you will look at the list later when you have calmed down. Put the list in a safe place and then get busy doing something else. Every time your mind returns to the problems tell yourself that you have written it down, you will check it later. You can go back to the list when you are feeling calmer.

5. Phone a friend.

Talk about something OTHER than what is bothering you. If you start talking about the situation you are angry about you will keep feeling angry. Get your friend to talk about a completely different topic. Talk about something funny or another interest you share. A ten minute conversation with a friend on another topic can help you calm down.

6. Take a good brisk walk for 10 minutes.

A brisk walk will help your body to use up the extra adrenaline that is created by angry feelings. Adrenaline pumps you up for a fight and makes your heart and breathing rate increase. You need to use it up in a healthy way to help the anger problem reduce fast. If you are at work go and run up and down a flight of stairs, or go into the bathroom and do some quick jumps, punches, jogging on the spot. It only takes a few minutes but it will help you to calm down from those angry feelings.

Anger problems are increasing and for many people they are causing harm to their relationships, jobs and career prospect. Learning some basic anger management techniques can help you to get back on track and be in control of your anger, instead of it controlling you.

Surviving the Job Interview

You may have gone through every step of preparing to land a good job with confidence, by gaining experience, honing your education, and writing a good, solid resume. Once those efforts start to pay off and you get a call for an interview with a potential employer, you may find yourself struck with a bad case of nervousness. This problem is common and, fortunately, it's one that's all in your head - there's nothing about a job interview you should be nervous about, if you're confident and secure.

Practicing interviews goes a long way to giving yourself self-confidence. With the help of friends or family, you can prepare yourself to answer questions without hesitation and try a few different answers to choose the one that sounds best. Rehearsal is important for making sure you look confident to potential employers.

You can also use a mirror to see how your face and eyes display a look of either nerves or confidence, and work on eliminating small details that will give an impression of self-doubt. Once you enter the interview and finally meet your potential employer, use a firm handshake and a smile, keep yourself from looking down at the floor, and definitely try not to shift too much from nerves.

Honesty is the best policy during a job interview. If you're caught lying, you've guaranteed that you'll be out of the race for the job. Still, if you have any blemishes on your work, education, or personal history, consider how you'll answer related questions about those issues. Glossing over past mistakes leaves the wrong impression, though the way you word your answers can soften the blow of any errors you've made at previous employments.

On the other hand, it helps to know your rights as a job applicant. There are some questions that you legally don't have to answer and can't be looked down on for refusal to answer. There are also questions that your interviewer can't legally ask. Although belligerence won't help your case, it's always a good thing to know your rights.

Whatever answers you give your potential employer, say them with confidence, even if it's explaining why you had a massive gap in your work history or confessing that you don't currently have any career goals beyond the job you're applying for.

There's plenty of information to be found on preparing your appearance for the interview. Most of it is simple common sense. A business suit or a tasteful blouse and pants, with a clean, neat appearance complete with personal hygiene is all you really need to know about how to look for an interview. As with your responses, an appearance of professionalism will go a long way towards getting you the job you want.

A smart thing to do in your interview, just as you feel it's starting to wind down, is to ask your employer a few questions about the position you're applying for or the company itself. Asking questions shows you've done your homework and have a serious interest in the place you'll be working. Questions also show your potential employer that you have dedication and the forethought to be careful about decisions, which can go a long way in their impression of you.
